Schedule & Itinerary

7:45 AM – Meet & Departure

• Gather students at 31501 Avenida Los Cerritos, San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675.

• Quick headcount and review of trip expectations.

• Depart by 8:00 AM sharp. (~1.5-hour drive to San Diego)

9:30 AM – Arrival in San Diego & Prep Time

• Arrive at the USS Midway Museum parking lot ($10–$20 per vehicle).

• Restroom break & group photo outside the ship.

• Quick overview before entering.

10:00 AM – Enter & Self-Guided Tour (Led by You!)

• Explore the flight deck, hangar deck, and crew quarters.

• Discuss naval aviation history, daily life on an aircraft carrier, and notable aircraft.

• Hands-on exploration of interactive exhibits.

• Extended tour time for deeper exploration and discussions.

• Allow students more time for questions and to engage with exhibits.

1:00 PM – Lunch at Seaport Village (10-minute walk from the USS Midway)

• Students can choose their own lunch spot from a variety of options, such as:

  • The Fish Market – Fresh seafood

  • Burger Lounge – Organic burgers

  • Puesto – Mexican street food

  • San Diego Pier Café – Classic American dining

  • Marion’s Fish Market – Casual seafood

  • Ben & Jerry’s – Ice cream for dessert

2:00 PM – Waterfront Walk & Unconditional Surrender Statue

• Stroll along the San Diego waterfront (Harbor Drive).

• Visit the Unconditional Surrender Statue ("The Kiss Statue") for a group photo.

• Enjoy the scenic views before heading back.

3:00 PM – Load Up & Depart for Home

• Final headcount & board the van.

• Depart at 3:15 PM (~1.5-hour drive back).

4:45 PM – Arrival Back in San Juan Capistrano

• Students check out with parents.

• Field trip concludes.
